The American system is strongest when the citizenry actively participate. Our problems stem from us not participating nearly enough.
Note to all of those who criticize these people, yet were happy when people protested "the war" (pick one): It's called the Freedom of Speech, look it up. Don't try to deny it to people you don't agree with...
