It has been many a moon since last i darkened this feed. Life has caught up with me. A life that is magical, terrible, wonderful, but of all else, busy.
It is a study in contrasts. My home, safe, secure and sound, an iota of sanity amidst the early devolution into a third world country? A civil war?
On this page and in my private live I can not bring myself to refer to the current junta as an administration. It is a regime, a kleptocratic plutocracy.
Things are more expensive by far. We are mired in wars of choice. Our government is being used by oligarchs and the heads of foreign powers. The citizenry is divided.
I, the Crazed American am on the side of the American People. But in order to fix a problem, we have to identify that problem.
WE are the problem. We are over 80 years since our last existential crisis. the institutional knowledge gained in that struggle shepherded us through the peace. Those clearer heads turned gray, then white and now are gone.
Greed became paramount. Greed is all there is now. Profit maximization is all there is. Millionaires became billionaires, and now openly lust after becoming trillionaires.
To what end? When the last of us is done killing each other for the scraps (the myth of it not being a zero sum game is becoming abundantly clear, we do live on a finite planet, and there are only so many resources on this rock), what good will having trillions of "dollars" do you?
We have choices we need to make. This system is irretrievably broken and must eventually collapse.
Gird your loins, get to know your neighbors, plan for the worst - hope and pray for the best.
We're Americans - we'll get through this - together. It'll be very difficult, but the future can be brighter, if we decide it must be.
